Repetition of BNP-Jamaat’s Violence in 2013

Brandishing firearm a local BNP leader fired bullets on activists of Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League in Natore today while they were holding a peace rally, rising the specter of violent politics BNP Jamaat combine demonstrated back in 2013.

A video of the attack shows, the acting convener of BNP’s local unit, Sahidul Islam Bacchu, flanked by a group of followers, raised his pistol and fired bullets targeting BCL and Jubo League leaders who attended the rally.

On impact, Ruhul Amin Biplob, acting general secretary of Jubo League Zila unit and Advocate Sayem Hossain, convener of Municipal unit both sustained injuries in the attack.

On Friday, BNP’s youth front Juba Dal leaders beat up journalists in presence of BNP’s acting secretary general while the acting chief of BNP Tarique Rahman, who is leading a fugitive life in London and convicted of a litany of charges including corruption, money laundering and colluding with terrorists, addressing the event virtually.

Boycotting the national election in 2014, BNP Jamaat combine unleashed a barrage of arson attacks on public vehicles and violent attacks on AL leaders and supporters and law enforcers leaving over 100 dead and thousands injured.
